Mode of Entry: Stomach and some Contact
Mode of Action: Pirate acts on the power houses of the insect’s cells – inhibits respiration and energy production. Pirate process involved in disrupting the transformation of ADP into ATP: Uncouplers of oxidative phosphorylation via disruption of the proton gradient Protonophores that short-circuit the mitochondrial proton gradient so that ATP cannot be synthesized.
